“Well planned and well executed”

I really enjoyed the trip and was very pleased with the customization Morocco Tours enabled to be able to have the experience of the country I was seeking. I would definitely recommend your company as being easy to work with throughout and meeting my objectives. Zak did an excellent job for us, always watching out for our welfare and arranging for our needs.

As for highlights:

I loved the atmosphere, splendor, and comfort of the riads in Fes and Marrakech. La Maison Arabe in particular was magnificent. Unexpectedly really enjoyed their cooking class, which I had just sort of gone along with as part of your standard tour package. It was really well done.

Being guided through the medina in Fes was pretty fascinating.

The desert camp and desert landscape felt pretty special.

The kasbah in Skoura was unexpectedly intriguing in giving a sense of the traditional life there.

The High Atlas mountain scenery was pretty spectacular.

The varied landscapes from seacoast to vineyards, dramatic rock formations, sand dunes, and lush oases offered great contrasts and ongoing interest.

The restaurant La Licorne in Essaouira was delightful, clearly a labor of love for the proprietors. We would highly recommend it to your future clients.

Warren (April/May 2026)

Highlights were seeing the people, the countryside, the artists, the workers.  Eating the food in so many different settings.  Loved most of the rooms and giant bathrooms.  Got a kick out of the Sahara with its blowing sands and the camels.  Cooking school was a big, very positive, surprise.  We brought home spices and have already TRIED cooking a Moroccan meal.  Loved the hike in the High Atlas Mountains—great guide.  Also loved the guide in Fes.  The medinas were fascinating with their “organized chaos”.  And, we really enjoyed seeing the plaza in Marrakech in the day AND at night.  We already miss the breakfast buffets!

Our driver, Zak, was just great.  Caring, good driver, knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, very flexible.  Zak worked hard to meet our needs and requests.  We did have a lot of trouble hearing him in the car when the car was moving.  Wish the vehicle had a “driver speak” function.  It does have speakers in the back…

Loved that he had set up “What’s app”.  It made communication so easy when we were apart.

Zak also did an excellent job of interviewing us about our reactions and opinions of each of the specialty guides.

The trip was well planned and well executed.  Communication with the agency was just excellent.  Bethany was marvelous at making changes Warren requested and at answering questions.  You could tell she has dealt with all kinds of people.  The written materials were quite good.  I loved talking with and meeting Jill.  Her knowledge and enthusiasm…and her problem-solving abilities…are just amazing.  We had plenty of phone #’s in case something went wrong–which was reassuring AND luckily unnecessary for our trip!

Suggestions:

I have strong feelings about women being underpaid all over the world.  I was struck by the suggestion in “Tipping” that housekeeping should only be given 10-20 MAD daily  ($1-2. USD) It was in striking contrast to every other recommended tip from the list. I’m sure it is in keeping with what they (mostly women from what we saw) actually make, but would love it if you raised that standard for your tourists.

It might be interesting to offer (as a possibility) a tour and guide that talked about women in Morocco/women in Islamic countries.

Other comments:

Bethany was very responsive to my requests for a “feather-free” room due to a very serious down/feather allergy.  She made it clear that they tell the hotels and remind them about 2 days ahead.  That being said, it didn’t work very well.

Le Casablanca Hotel (first and last nights) didn’t get it.  They did give us feather-free pillows, but had a 2” down mattress topper and a down comforter.  Since we were only there one night, we just removed those from the bed and stuffed them in a closet.

The luxury desert camp had no clue.  Everything was down—3” mattress topper, pillows and comforter.  They did manage to get pillows—I think they had to send someone to town—and they were very kind and tried hard.

Everyone else did fairly well.

Luckily, when I travel to countries where I don’t speak the language, I always have my problem and request in writing in the native language.  So, I had it written out in Arabic and showed that when needed.  It helps a lot and might be a suggestion you give your tourists with similar problems (food allergies, feathers, wool…)
