Marrakech is the third largest city in Morocco and offers the tourist plenty of fantastic sights from monuments to the Medina which houses the three palaces of Marrakech. On your tour to Morocco, whether luxury or not, you will want to experience life as King!
When holidaying in this beautiful North African country you’ll want to soak up as much of it’s history as possible and the best way to do this is to visit the Medina, the old city. The Medina is a spectacular example of Moroccan architecture where you can visit the palaces and holy places, monuments and the lively souks.
The Royal Palace, also known as Dar el-Makhzen is set next to the Badi Palace inside the Medina. The palace is still used today so access is not allowed but you can get close enough and walk about this palatial building soaking up the magnificent architecture away from the hustle and bustle of the city center.
The Badi Palace is a 16th century palace which once had a courtyard paved with gold and crystal, it now stands bare after being looted many years ago. Even though it is very bare you can still see the scale of this once magnificent palace with its stately rooms and official chambers.
Bahia Palace is probably the most beautiful of the three palaces, built in the late 19th century it is home to large gardens with has all been very well preserved. The palace spreads over acres of land with walled gardens, stunning courtyard buildings and pavilions. You can enjoy the tranquility of the fountain filled courtyard, curved arches, marble floors and exceptional carvings this Moroccan styled palace has to offer.
Marrakech has so much to offer the traveler, but stopping in at the Medina and enjoying some of the historical delights is a much when in the area.
