Our October 2024 private tour of Morocco was terrific. Morocco Tours worked with our group of six to craft an itinerary that hit the highlights but allowed for flexibility. We opted for both a guide and a driver.
Our guide, Hamid, was very professional with a keen sense of humor and warmth that revealed itself as he got to know us. In addition to providing historical and cultural insights, he handled all the daily details so we could simply enjoy our trip. He also arranged for two specific site guides, helped us negotiate in the souks, and made sure we experienced a few genuinely local restaurants where average Moroccans ate. In addition, the long drives were broken up with short, informative stops along the way, some impromptu. For example, we turned around after driving by a man pressing olives. Hamid sent our driver down the street, and he returned with hot bread which we dipped in the fresh oil. When we decided not to hike, as per our original itinerary, Hamid made the excellent suggestion to visit the Mohammed V Water Museum which was not on our radar. He was particularly knowledgeable about the skills involved in creating the stunning plaster carving and tilework that characterize Moroccan architecture. We felt well taken care of. After two weeks together and some good laughs, we were both sad to say goodbye.
Our driver, Abdul, was an excellent and cautious driver. We did not get to know him much as our language skills did not match. However, his van was new, clean and always full of cold water. The coordination between Abdul and Hamd was superb. We rarely waited more than a few minutes to be picked up even in the middle of the large cities.
Our accommodations met or exceeded our expectations – especially the riads.
