“It was completely incredible experience”

We’re no jet-setters, but we felt like we were during our recent trip to Morocco arranged by your company.

Each day provided us with new exhilarating and enchanting experiences: the medina and souks with their dusty winding streets; different riads — traditional homes we stayed in; the food — delicious tagines, bread, soups, kebabs, and barbeque; the art and architecture; incredible street life in the squares and small towns; the storks. Well, I could go on and on.

We were truly the pampered guests chauffeured around the county with our fantastic driver, Mr. Namir Mohammed, who was in every way, not only an experienced, careful driver, but a great guide to the local culture and traditions. “Madam,” he would say with great humor, “are you happy? You’d like soup for lunch?” And, voila, we would be taken to a local restaurant where we ate harari or bisawa, a rustic fava bean soup which I could have eaten at every meal. “You want pizza,”…and soon we were eating medfouna. What happy travelers we were!

Because we spent almost 12 days in the car, you can imagine how important it was to have a good driver/companion/translator. Namir was all those things and sensitive to our needs yet respectful of our privacy. He showed us through example special kindness and generosity to local people in every corner of the county. We were traveling at the time of the political trouble in Tunisia and we came to understand the situation from a Moroccan point of view.

Namir seemed to know many people as we traversed the country. Driving through the countryside, we pulled into an olive oil pressing operation seemingly out of another century. He knew the family, of course, and we had olives and mint tea while watching this ancient process.

Nouri

And since the driver cannot be the guide in the cities, we were continually impressed with the quality of guides arranged by Experience It Tours in places like Volubilis — Mr. Hamid, with his extensive knowledge of history; Fes — Mr. Hakim, in his elegant djellaba, who guided us through the dusty souk. We learned he was an expert in spiritual music; Mr. Moha, our personal camel guide in the desert, who talked of his love of his traditional village life; Mr. Nouri, our guide in Marrakesh.

It was completely incredible experience — all of it. We recommend it to all who are contemplating a trip to Morocco. Thank you
