Luxurious Desert Camping in Morocco
The Sahara Desert is one of the highlights of Morocco. The question that we get asked is, “Are there some luxury options for camping in the desert?” The quick answer is, “Yes!”. There are a number of luxurious desert camping options, however, they may not be as luxurious as some of the tented camps in East Africa.
For those looking for something exclusive, you should consider Dar Ahlam’s tented camp. It offers a remote desert camp that allows you to experience the dunes in comfort. You could also consider something like Merzouga Desert Luxury or Marhaba Desert Luxury Camp. These 2 camps provide a luxury option. During the warmer months, make sure to select a tented camp with air-conditioning.
Each of these luxurious desert camps are located on the edge of the dunes. Morocco no longer allows camps to be set up in the middle of the Erg Chebbi dunes. These camps can be easily accessed by 4×4 Landcruiser.

If you want to try some amazing foods, I’d highly recommend that you try the Bastilla. This sweet & savory delicacy is unique to Morocco. You should also try one of my favorite tajines, the beef, prune & apricot. The first time I had that tajine was in Rabat, visiting with a friend. His wife to be served us the most amazing tajine. It always ranks as one of the best ever.
If you are a vegetarian, make sure to try the Royal Cous Cous with 7 types of vegetable OR the wonderful cooked salads.
