Just to let you know how much Doug and I enjoyed our Morocco trip and to give you a little review for each property.
First, I want to tell you what a great time we had with our driver, Khalid. He was very knowledgeable and personable and we really enjoyed our time with him, and felt very safe with him.
Morocco is such an interesting country that really seems to combine the old and the new and modern. Each destination was a little different and always new sights. The overnight tent in the desert was very nice and we were glad that we included it in our itinerary.
As for the hotels–here are our thoughts:
Hotel le Doge–loved it. Very nice boutique hotel. We especially liked the bar and restaurant rooftop terrace–had a great meal there the first and last night.
Lina Ryad–very nice boutique hotel with nice rooftop terraces overlooking the city. Had a very good meal there.
- Riad Myra–very nice boutique hotel close to the Blue Gate of Medina. Had a great dinner at a restaurant at the end of the alley–Maison Blue.
Palais Masandoia–UNBELIEVABLE!! They gave us a suite which was fantastic–we were the only guests there. We would love to be there in the summer to enjoy the pool. They have a very nice bar with great drinks. The dinner was not one of our favorites, but breakfast and lunch were very good.
Jaimas Madu–great tent experience in the desert. The 4 X 4 ride was fine and the camel ride was a real experience. I don’t care for camel rides and my camel was stumbling a little in the sand dune, so after our sunset stop I decided to walk the rest of the way–and ended up with the guide rope for the camels. What fun!! Great dinner and breakfast. One comment–someone told me that they now serve alcohol, which they don’t.
L’Ma Lodge–probably our favorite hotel. They also gave us a suite. Again, we would love to be there in the summer to enjoy the lovely grounds. The best dinner that we had on the trip and a great breakfast the next morning. One comment–they would not take a credit card when we checked out which depleted our Dirham a bit.
Riad Le Clos des Arts–nice boutique hotel in a great location and with a delightful rooftop terrace with a pool. Only had breakfast there which were very good. Not far from a fantastic restaurant that they recommended and we had dinner there both nights–Pepenero which had both a Moroccan and an Italian menu.
Again, thanks for you agency putting together such a wonderful trip.
Have a very happy and healthy holiday season.
