To answer you regarding our trip, there aren’t enough superlatives in the English language to describe Morocco. Morocco is absolutely beautiful – the people are charming and fun – our driver, Rachid, was perfect, the Ryad’s were nothing short of palaces, the food was delicious. We have been telling all our friends (and even some strangers) about how great our trip was and they should put it on their bucket list.
I have finally managed to go over the thousands of photos Tom took and am sending you one of my favorites. I love it!
Everything was so perfect. Marrakech at night was like Mardi Gras, but instead of once a year, it is every day! Cobra’s dancing to a flute, children playing, ladies painting henna tattoos, musicians, storytelling and on and on and on. And it was clean, in spite of all the people. The city workers were sweeping constantly.
As to safety, we felt perfectly safe in all of the towns in Morocco. We had heard about pick-pockets, but never once came across anything like that. Chefchaouen is a must-visit city. The Roman ruins, Volubilis, – well the Romans might not have been too good at writing numbers, but their concrete and tile work is unsurpassed. To walk down a paved road that the Roman Centurions rode their horses down 2200 years ago just took my breath away. And the underground sewer system is still there.
Rachid, our driver, even invited us to his house for the breaking of Ramadan fast.
Thanks for arranging such a spectacular vacation for us. Now we are trying to figure out when we can go back, inshallah!
