Traveling a foreign country can be daunting, there are so many things to explore and if you don’t use a reputable tour operator, then you need to find your own way to get around and explore what the country has to offer.
This couldn’t be truer when visiting Morocco. Morocco in northern Africa has so much to offer from spectacular historical sights to an abundance of natural beauty. Of course the best way to explore the country is with a reliable tour operator who can show you the sights and enable you to relax and enjoy the experience.
If you decide to travel on your own, there are a number of ways to get around in Morocco.
Bus or Coach
There is a very large bus network in Morocco with a choice of both private and public bus companies on the roads. This is the most affordable travel option for both long and short journeys.
If you want the ability to take control of your vacation, visit the sights in your own time and manage your own itinerary, then car hire may be the choice for you. It’s important to know that car hire is the most expensive transportation option and you should only hire a car in the major cities. Hiring a car in the smaller towns will cost you considerably more.
You can find car hire companies at the international airports and top hotels in Casablanca, Marrakesh and Fes.
There are two train lines that run in Morocco, both run from Tangier to Marrakesh. This is an affordable option with two pricing structures, one for first class and one for second class. You can also book a cabin for longer journeys which includes pull down beds.
Within the city limits using a taxi is a top choice. There are the petit taxis for smaller groups of three or less and the grand taxis, which are shared taxis. The petit taxis are usually metered taxis.
